The New Top 5 SEO Factors of 2014
Search engine optimization changes all the time, Google constantly works on updates and refreshers for there current algorithms. You might not be aware but Google have several algorithms which work together to build your overall SEO score, for example here are a few individual algorithms:
1. Local search algorithm
2. Spam algorithm
3. Web search algorithm
4. Trust rank algorithm
5. Author rank algorithm
As you can see I have listed just a few of there independent algorithms, even though there independent of each other the final outcome/result helps towards your overall SEO score.
2014 has proven to be an important year in the SEO world with quite a few changes being made, more changes than in previous years. It was only a matter of time before the top SEO factors were replaced with new ones and we want to share them with you. Being a search engine optimization company we have to stay up to date with whats going on in the SEO world, the points we have listed below are ones that we have noticed change and appear to give more weight.
1. SSL Certificate HTTPS
Google wants to change the web and this time they want to make it more secure. They now give more weight to websites that have a valid SSL certificate and and make them stand out in the search results. You can now tell which websites are secure from looking at the search results page, they have displayed HTTPS next to the sites/pages that are secure. We want our website to be as secure as possible and not allow hijackers to intercept information between us and our clients.
2. Trust Rank
Several years ago Google denied that there was such as thing as a trust rank, many of us SEO’s in the know would have told you there was such a thing. This year it was confirmed that Google does have a sort of trust rank. For example if you created the following pages Google would trust you more:
1. Contact us page
As customers we would also trust a company more if they had these pages, its good to know there’s an easily accessible contact us page if we ever had the need to use it.
3. Site Speed
Site speed became a factor when Google tried to speed up the web making websites faster for users. They assign extra weight to websites that have a fast page load time, and less weight to slower loading sites. You can make your site a lot faster by compressing your images and enabling gzip compression as well as browser caching. We can take care of all your website SEO needs, just take a look at our SEO packages.
In 2014 good quality content is very important, content has always been important but now it plays a bigger part than ever. Good quality content released on a regular basis will help improve your standings with the search engines. Search engines like Google don’t like stale or neglected websites, there hungry and always on the look out for more information to index and share with there users. When you write your content think about what keyterms you want to aim for and how you link from that post to important pages within your site. Your internal link structure is very important as well.
5. Mobile Compatibility
Its commonly known that since the release of smartphones users activity online has increased dramatically, webmasters then began making there websites mobile friendly to improve there users experiences. Some webmasters couldn’t be bothered to go through all the hard work and were happily sitting at the top of the SERP’s receiving good amounts of traffic.
Google want there users to have a good all round experience when using there search engine to find information. They have helped secure the web by assigning extra weight to websites with SSL certificates, they have assigned extra weight to websites that load quickly, and now assign weight to websites that are mobile friendly. When we say mobile friendly we mean have a mobile CSS file that resizes your website and makes it easier to use on smartphones like iPhone’s.
